Christ is at the center of Marlboro Friends Meeting directing us to grow in the Spirit of the Lord, to worship Him with all of our being, and to set an example by ministering to the needs of those we meet in our daily walk.
We are part of a larger body called Friends Church of North Carolina. We seek to honor our history and to move forward in the will of Christ.
Friends throughout their history have sought in a simple manner to share who Christ is and how we are called to respond to him. Following the Civil War Friends gathered to clarify their purpose as part of the larger church in North America. Out of that time of discernment came a document which we still use to share our faith and belief with others. The conclusion of this document states clearly, the work of the church.
(From the Richmond Declaration of Faith – 1887)
In presenting this declaration of faith, we desire that all of our members may be encouraged, in humility and devotedness, to renewed faithfulness in fulfilling their part of the great mission of the church, and through the church to the world around us, in the name of our Crucified Redeemer. Life from Christ, life in Christ, must ever be the basis of life for Christ, For this we have been created and redeemed, and by this alone can the longings of our immortal souls be satisfied.
We seek to live out our faith in Christ with integrity, by living simply, by honoring the life of others through peaceful action and respect, and with the hope of building a stronger and more caring community in our world.
